Example CAD tutorial video

As part of learnbylayers every subscription plan and lesson bundle comes with video tutorials so your students can learn how to create their own designs to 3D print. This is one of the most important aspects of learning about 3D printing and forms the core of the learning journey.
When students first see 3D printing and learn how the machines work, the next stage is to start printing. After they have seen a few example STL files printed, the next stage is to teach them CAD so the can design their own models. This is where the deep learning and problem solving skills come into place. Learning CAD involves learning new skills and concepts and it can be a challenging task for teachers and students.
The learnbylayers curriculum takes the stress out of learning CAD as we provide a huge bank of video tutorials for you and your classes to work from. In total curriculum there are over 50 video tutorials ranging from Beginners levels using TinkerCAD to Advanced and Expert levels using Fusion 360. All the videos have been created by Phil Cotton a qualified Autodesk Instructor with years of teaching schools and students about CAD and 3D printing.
We have created a preview of one of the advanced videos below, where students are tasked with modelling a case for their smart phone and then customising the case with a design of their choice. This speed has been increased as the actual video is far slower and forms part of a series of videos that teach the students how to model a case from scratch.
