Learnbylayers an international curriculum

3D printing in education should form an essential part of any teachers Design and Technology/STEM/Engineering curriculum. With the industry on a rapid journey of expansion the importance of adopting 3D printing is as vital as teaching children coding. To ensure that students are making the correct progress teachers have to ensure that their curriculum’s reflect the relevant national standards. In the UK the national standards are set by the Department of Education and are reviewed on a regular basis to ensure curriculum’s are fit for purpose. In Australia there is a similar approach to a centralised approach to education, whilst in the USA there is more variation in subjects taught and the relevant standards.
UK, USA and Australia education standards mapped
Here at learnbylayers we know how important teaching a high quality ‘fit for purpose’ curriculum is. As our curriculum was created by current classroom teachers for teachers, it is designed to fit the needs of national education standards. As our curriculum is currently being taught in a range of different countries e.g. UK, USA, Netherlands, Australia and Singapore, we know how important is is for teachers to have clearly mapped curriculum content to the relevant national standards. That’s why we have created three separate resources for teachers that clearly map learnbylayers to the UK National Standards, Australian National Standards and the USA common core standards for Math, Next Generation Science and the International Standards for Technology Education.
Designed by current teachers for teachers
For the UK National Standards we have mapped the beginners lesson pack to the KS3 Design and Technology National Curriculum and the intermediate lesson pack to the KS4 GCSE programmes of study for Design and Technology. Below you can see where each lesson meets the relevant standards and also how they link to Maths and Science standards.

Australian National standards for Design and Technologies
For the Australian National standards we have mapped the lesson packs to the same age range as the UK and USA education curriculum’s. The beginners lesson pack is for years 7 and 8 and the intermediate lesson pack is for years 9 and 10.
