In this lesson, your class with be given a design challenge based on the skills that they learnt in lesson 3 using TinkerCAD. Students will be given a range of challenges to complete with the outcome being 3D printable. There is a bronze, silver, gold and platinum challenge. They will also learn extra features that can be applied to 3D CAD models such as designing ‘fillets’ and adding ‘chamfers’ to designs.
With every design challenge there is an image showing dimensions so that learners can check how accurate their model is. Also there are example STL files of each design so students can physically measure the outcomes to compare to their own design.
Bronze challenge – Key ring that is personalised
Silver challenge – pencil holder that can hold up to 16 pencils
Gold challenge – Small food clip
Platinum challenge – Desk tidy that can hold multiple different stationary equipment
All the resources can be fully edited so they meet the needs of your learners. Homework tasks come with answer sheets to allow self assessment and peer assessment. This enhances the learning experience for your students allowing them to be fully involved in the assessment of their learning.
