We’ve updated our online courses

Our online courses are some of our most popular learning resources. Today, we are pleased to share that we have updated the Fusion 360 and Onshape courses to include two extra lessons. Each course now has a lesson on 3D printing materials and a slicing masterclass.
Understanding the different types of materials suitable for 3D printing in education or hobby use is a really important area to cover. Knowing the melting points and ideal temperature settings for printing in PLA and ABS is vital knowledge to learn especially when selecting the correct materials for your print. The lesson covers all of these topics and more to give you a sound understanding of the area. Furthermore, there is an explanation of what slicing is and why slicing a model correctly is vital to successful 3D printing.
The second lesson added is a slicing masterclass using CURA. Cura is a free program to download and is used in every lesson pack we offer. It’s the most widely used software to slice models and is extremely user-friendly and powerful. The lessons cover how to download and install CURA on your computer, how to import an STL file into the platform, and then how to slice the model ready for 3D printing.
Included in the tutorial is how to use the basic settings to slice a model, how to change print speed and layer height, then how to use more advanced settings to reduce print time and reduce the cost of a print.
This means that on both Fusion 360 and Onshape courses you will learn how to design models and then how to slice the models ready for 3D printing. The courses also complement the 3D printing curriculum for teaching in schools/homeschool and allow you to upskill and really get to know the software.
